Living with a 1969 Thunderbird Antique Car and Traveling the Country While Enjoying the Quiet Time
Posted by richard under classic cars, insurance, old cars

We're already looking forward to next year.
Mary and I have counted on our 1969 Thunderbird now for probably three years. The general feeling is we've been happy with the car. Our cottage is in western Texas, near Quitman, and we love driving the car during the spring months. Overall I'd say it's an excellent toy for the money.
During the time we've owned the Thunderbird we've been all over the country. We drove to visit our sister in Oregon numerous times without any issues. The Thunderbird does well on gas and has not given us a lot issues in terms of repair.
The Thunderbird is in fine condition, having been restored in the last two years. The previous owners seem to have taken it upon themselves to fix it up over the past twenty-one years. Our previous car, a Zastava, had plenty of headaches and we weren't sad to get rid of it.
We made sure we went to get insurance on the vehicle. For our classic auto insurance we went with a company called Hagerty Insurance. We signed up for the policy completely online, using their excellent web site. We found the company by reviewing the information on antique car insurance. It's an authority site for finding the best price on insurance for classic cars. We insured the Thunderbird for a fraction of what Geico wanted.
The antique car insurance was just in time because within a month of getting it we were involved in a horrible accident with a Jeep. The accident totalled both cars. Our Hagerty Insurance insurance agent reached us and let us know the car would be serviced 100%! It was a relief because of our investment to the car.
The price of the car has gone up a lot over the past few years to our surprise. It's hard to believe we paid $23,000 for the car back in 1999. Now it's worth at least $30,000! We've been offered this much several times this year. My girlfriend is very excited!
The classic car of your dreams is out there Go out and don't hesitate, there's a world of good condition Thunderbirds out there. Buy a Thunderbird now before the price goes up! You won't be sorry.
