Living with a 1970 Camaro Collector Car and Losing the Inheritance While Blowing a Lot of Gas
Posted by richard under classic cars, insurance, old cars

Winter is soon upon us.
Cindy and I have depended on our 1970 Camaro now for just about seven years. In that time we've been thrilled with the car. Our condo is in lower Iowa, near Rock Rapids, and we love touring in the car during the warmer months. Overall I'd say it's a great toy for the money.
From the day we picked up the Camaro we've been all over the country. My whole family made a weekend out of visiting our brother in Kansas several times with no problems whatsoever. The Camaro does well on gas and has not given us many issues in terms of repair.
The Camaro is in excellent condition, having been restored in the last two years. The previous owners seem to have taken good care of it over the past several years. Our previous car, a Škoda, had plenty of heartaches and we weren't sad to scrap it.
The first order of the day was to get classic car insurance on the vehicle. For our hagerty classic car insurance we went with a company called Leland-West. We signed up for the policy completely online, using their excellent web site. We found the company by reviewing the information on insurance reviews. It's an authority site for finding the lowest cost on insurance for classic cars. We insured the Camaro for a quarter of what Prudential wanted.
The antique car insurance was just in time because within a month of getting it we were involved in a horrible accident with a Toyota. The accident totalled both cars. Our Leland-West insurance agent reached out and let us know the car would be covered! It was a relief because of our investment to the car.
The price of the car has gone up a lot over the past 2 years to our surprise. It's hard to believe we paid $21,000 for the car back in 1996. Now it's worth at least $33,000! We've been offered this much several times this year. My wife is very excited!
Go out and find that special classic car Go out and don't hesitate, there's a world of excellent Camaros out there. Buy a Camaro now before the price goes up! You won't be sorry.
